Rwanda has become Africa’s mountain gorilla trekking mecca. And this is understandably so, given that it offers visitors the most organised but fun mountain gorilla tracking experience in East Africa and the chance to traipse through some of the continent’s most pristine afro-montane forests! But Rwanda has a lot more to offer than just Endangered mountain gorillas, and the country has further enhanced its repertoire by making so many activities accessible to the world.
If you ever consider Rwanda as a destination, be sure to include chimpanzee trekking in Cyamudongo and watching golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park Wild Rwanda author, Christian Boix, recently had the chance to return to his beloved Rwanda, spend some time with a few mountain gorillas and other primates, experience some of the latest lodging and activity additions to the tourist circuit, and soak up a few days of incredible birding at Nyungwe National Park. He even managed to rediscover a frog that had not been recorded in Rwanda since 1952!! Enjoy this gallery to see some of the highlights from his trip.
